Yes, three-time ASP World Champ and timeless yardstick of surfing style, Tom Curren has been to the Belmar Pro before. He came out two years ago with his sons Frank and Patrick, who surfed the Fins Pro Junior. Keep an eye on Patrick in the Juniors too.

But this year, Tom Curren is actually surfing in the Fosters Belmar Pro and the Masters Pro (for the record, he’s 49.)

Curren, of Santa Barbara, was world champ in 1985, 1985 and 1990. He won 33 Tour events in his career. He is credited for bringing the fish from 1970s relic status back into modern surfing in the 90s, which still influences small wave design today. Most recently, Curren has pursued his music career. He released “In Plain View” back in April. This summer he played the Stone Pony in Asbury Park and the Sea Shell Resort in Beach Haven.

Yep. That’s right. Tom Curren on the beach and surfing this weekend in Belmar. If the Gabrielle swell fades on Sunday, who’s got a twin fin he can borrow?
