Despite dismal wave forecast, there was “enough” on Friday to get through the scheduled day of FINS Mens Open heats all the way through Round 3.
The morning started off with beautiful weather, glassy conditions and a very high tide, although just enough swell in the water to see the potential to get through the day. As the tide dropped, rideable waves revealed themselves.
Last year’s Mens champ Blayr Barton had 3 of the top 5 highest heat scores with one reaching the 15+ point range, surprisingly, considering the conditions, but not surprising considering his talent. Cose Stoyanoff also reached the 15+ point range, and Jersey legend Rob Kelly put down a 12.74.
