The 2021 Playa Bowls Belmar Pro presented by Eastern Lines Surf Shop is honored to welcome international bodyboarding stars Ayaka Suzuki (Japan) and Valentina Diaz (Chile) to New Jersey as competitors in the Snot Nose Wax Women’s Bodyboard Open division. In it’s 2021 debut, the women’s bodyboard division will feature a field of eight competitors and will be sanctioned as an APB North America Specialty Event.
Ayaka Suzuki is 2018 Women’s Bodyboarding World Champion, the first Japanese world champion in bodyboarding history. She is, also, a 3x Pipeline Champion. Valentina Diaz is the 2019 Bodyboarding US Ocean Beach Festival Women’s Champion. She runs a bodyboarding school at Zicatela in Mexico, is a team rider/model for Roxy Chile, and recently published her first book. While discussing their attendance at this year’s Belmar Pro, Valentina simply replied, “I’m excited!” Meanwhile, World Champion Suzuki enthusiastically stated, “I’m on it!”
In the long-running history of the Belmar Pro, this will be the first time Belmar will play host to women’s pro bodyboarding. The 2021 Playa Bowls Belmar Pro presented by Eastern Lines Surf Shop is scheduled for September 9th-12th. Registration deadline is September 5th.
